Who We Manufacture Off Shoulder Dresses For
You may be launching your first collection, testing a new style for a boutique, or adding another silhouette to an established fashion line.
We work with:
- Fashion startups
- Emerging fashion brands
- Fashion designers
- Boutique owners
- Retailers
- Wholesalers
- Fashion buyers
- Private label companies
- E-commerce fashion brands
A new brand may start with a smaller run to test a style before committing to larger quantities. Established brands often come to us with repeat styles, where keeping the same measurements, fabric and construction becomes more important.
The production plan is confirmed after we review the style, quantity and order requirements.

Custom Off Shoulder Dress Manufacturing
Off shoulder dresses can be less forgiving around the upper body. A small change in neckline width, elastic tension or sleeve position can change how the whole dress sits when worn.
On the first sample, the neckline is checked with the bust, sleeves and upper body together. A neckline that looks correct on the pattern can still move once the garment is worn. After approval, the sample stays with the production team as the reference for the bulk order.

Choosing Fabric for an Off Shoulder Dress
Fabric choice affects the fit, especially around the neckline and sleeves. A fabric that looks good in a swatch may behave very differently after it is cut and sewn.
If the neckline needs more support, we also look at the fabric recovery and whether lining or other internal construction is required.
| Fabric | Common Applications | What You Need to Watch |
|---|---|---|
| Satin | Party, evening, occasion | Seam marks, pressing and surface handling |
| Silk | Premium collections | Shrinkage, cutting and delicate handling |
| Chiffon | Maxi and occasion styles | Transparency, layering and drape |
| Jersey | Bodycon and fitted styles | Stretch and recovery |
| Rib Knit | Fitted casual styles | Neckline recovery and stretch |
| Crepe | Formal and occasion dresses | Drape, structure and pressing |
| Lace | Occasion and feminine styles | Placement, lining and seam matching |
If you already have a fabric supplier, you can send us the fabric specification or swatch information.
If you are still comparing materials, we can suggest fabrics for sampling based on the construction, target price and finished look you want.
Popular Off Shoulder Dress Styles We Manufacture
Off shoulder dresses can be developed across different silhouettes, but the fabric and construction usually need to change with the style and target price.
Catalogue from Xiuyu Apparel

Off Shoulder Evening Dress
For evening styles, the neckline is usually developed with the bodice and skirt at the same time. Draping, pleats, ruching, fitted panels or a high slit can change the balance of the dress, so the proportions are checked on the sample before production.

Off Shoulder Lace Dress
With lace, the first sample tells us more than the pattern alone. We check how the motifs meet at seams, where the lace edge falls and whether the overlay needs extra support. These points are confirmed before the bulk order is cut.

Off Shoulder Satin Dress
Satin shows mistakes quickly. During sampling, we check seam appearance, pressing marks and how the fabric reacts around the neckline. If the surface marks easily, the pressing method and some construction details may need to be changed before bulk cutting.

Off Shoulder A-Line Dress
The A-line shape gives more room through the skirt while keeping the neckline as the main feature. We can make this style in satin, chiffon, lace, cotton and other woven fabrics. Skirt fullness is adjusted according to the fabric and the look you want.

Off Shoulder Bodycon Dress
A fitted off shoulder dress depends on the balance between bust, waist and hip measurements. The neckline may look right on its own but shift once the body measurements are combined. Pattern changes are made during fitting before the final sample is approved.

Off Shoulder Maxi Dress
Long skirts are not only about length. Lining and heavier fabrics add weight, which can pull against the upper part of the dress. The overall balance is checked on the sample before the bulk pattern is confirmed.

Off Shoulder Midi Dress
A midi dress can look quite different even with the same off shoulder neckline. Waist position, skirt volume and fabric choice make a noticeable difference. For casual, resort or occasionwear collections, these details are usually adjusted around the intended fit and price point.

Off Shoulder Mini Dress
Mini versions are common in party, summer and resort collections. Puff sleeves, ruffles, ruching and smocking are all possible. The amount of detail depends on the fabric and the support needed around the neckline, especially with lighter materials.
More Chiffon Dress Styles We Manufacture

Off Shoulder Ruffle Dress
Ruffles can be placed around the neckline, sleeves or skirt. The gathering needs to match the fabric. Lightweight materials can take fuller ruffles, while heavier fabrics usually look cleaner with less volume.

Off Shoulder Wedding Guest Dress
For wedding guest styles, the fabric makes a noticeable difference to the finished look. Chiffon gives softer movement, while satin and crepe create a cleaner appearance. During sampling, the drape, lining and neckline support are confirmed together.

Floral Off Shoulder Dress
Floral prints need checking at the cutting stage, especially with large or directional motifs. We pay attention to placement at the neckline, center front and main seams so the flowers line up properly on the finished dress.

Off Shoulder Cocktail Dress
Cocktail styles can be made in satin, crepe, lace, velvet, sequins and other occasionwear fabrics. They do not all sew or press in the same way. Sleeve volume, neckline depth and internal support are adjusted according to the fabric used for the sample.

Ruched Off Shoulder Dress
For ruched styles, the amount of gathering needs to stay consistent from the sample to the finished order. With stretch fabrics, we also look at the ruching after the fabric has been stretched and released, since the appearance can change.

Puff Sleeve Off Shoulder Dress
Puff sleeves can become surprisingly heavy once lining, gathers or extra layers are added. Sleeve volume and the attachment point are checked during fitting because too much weight can pull on the neckline when the wearer moves.

Our factory holds BSCI, GOTS, ISO 9001 and OEKO-TEX certifications.

MOQ, Samples & Bulk Production For Off Shoulder Dress
Our usual MOQ is 50–100 pieces per style/color. The final quantity depends on the fabric, color, construction and production method.
Sample development is usually 3–7 days, depending on the design and material availability.
After sample approval and fabric confirmation, bulk production is usually around 25–30 days. Styles with special fabrics, complicated construction or several sample revisions may require more time.
If you are ordering several styles or colors, we can review the quantities together before production so that the fabric and order plan are workable.
Why Choose Xiuyu Apparel for Off Shoulder Dress Manufacturing?
We have been making apparel since 2007, covering fabric sourcing, pattern development, sampling, bulk production, QC and packing under one production setup.
Off shoulder styles need more attention around the upper body than many standard dress constructions. Neckline position, sleeve attachment, fabric behavior and grading all affect how the finished garment sits.
Our sample and bulk production are handled in the same facility. As a clothing manufacturer, we keep the approved sample and production specifications with the production team throughout the order.

How to Start Your Custom Off Shoulder Dress Project
We work with fashion brands, wholesalers and retailers on OEM and ODM dress orders. The production process starts with your design information and moves through sampling before the bulk order is released.
1. Send the Design
Send your tech pack, sketch, reference sample, fabric information, measurements and estimated quantity. Before sampling, we go through the measurements, fabric and construction details and flag anything that could cause a problem later.
2. Confirm Price and Materials
Pricing is calculated from the fabric, construction, order quantity, trims, finishing and packaging. If you are still comparing fabrics, we can check alternatives against the target cost.
3. Make the Sample
The first sample is where we usually find the details that were not obvious from the drawing or tech pack. You can send fitting comments after receiving it, and the pattern or construction can be adjusted before approval.
4. Release the Bulk Order
After sample approval and fabric confirmation, the order moves into cutting and sewing. QC checks the garments during production, followed by final inspection, finishing and packing.
What Affects the Cost of a Custom Off Shoulder Dress?
Two off shoulder dresses can look very similar in photos but have quite different production costs.
A wide gathered neckline, full sleeves or a layered skirt can use much more fabric than a simpler construction. Elastic, stay tape, boning and other internal support also add material and sewing work.
Lining, ruffles, shirring and gathered sleeves can increase fabric consumption as well.
If you have a target cost, send it with the design and estimated quantity. We can then look at the fabric and construction before the sample is made.

How We Manufacture Off Shoulder Dresses
01 — Design Review
You send your design, measurements, fabric requirements and construction details.
We review the information first and flag anything that may affect sampling, material consumption or production cost.
02 — Pattern Development
The pattern has to balance the neckline, bust, armhole and sleeve. With off shoulder styles, changing one area can move another.
Pattern adjustments are usually made after the first sample is fitted. A drawing shows the intended shape; the fitting sample shows what needs to change in the actual garment.
03 — Fabric & Trim Confirmation
Your fabric, lining, elastic, zipper, buttons and other trims are confirmed before sampling.
If you need fabric sourcing, suitable options can be matched to the look, construction and target cost.
04 — Sample Making
The first sample is checked for neckline position, sleeve shape, garment length, fabric appearance, construction and overall fit.
If the neckline sits differently from the reference or the sleeve restricts movement, those points are marked for correction before the next sample.
05 — Fit Correction
If the neckline rides up, the sleeve restricts movement, the bust needs more support or the silhouette does not match your reference, the pattern or construction can be adjusted before approval.
06 — PP Sample Approval
Once the measurements, construction, fabric and finishing are confirmed, the approved sample becomes the reference for bulk production.
07 — Bulk Cutting & Sewing
Production follows the approved pattern and material specifications.
During the sewing process, we watch the points that can change the finished measurements, including fabric handling, seam tension and construction details around the neckline and sleeves.
08 — In-Line QC
Quality checks are carried out during production.
Key construction points such as neckline, sleeves, seams, lining, closures and measurements are checked during production rather than only at the end.
09 — Final Inspection & Packing
Finished garments are checked against the approved sample and production requirements before pressing, packing and shipment.

Problems We Check During Fitting & Bulk Production
Most fitting problems with off shoulder dresses become clear when the garment is worn rather than when it is lying flat.
The neckline, sleeves and upper bodice need to work together, so we check these areas during fitting and again during production.
The Neckline Moves When You Walk
If the neckline keeps falling, tightening the elastic is not always the answer.
The opening, fabric recovery, garment weight and sleeve construction can all affect the fit. We look at the complete upper-body construction before deciding whether the elastic, pattern or another part of the garment needs changing.
The Sleeves Pull the Bodice
This is more noticeable with puff sleeves, long sleeves and heavier fabrics.
When the wearer lifts an arm or moves naturally, the sleeve can pull against the neckline. If the attachment and pattern balance are not right, the dress may shift even though it looked fine on the fitting table.
The Ruching Changes Between Garments
Ruching relies on consistent gathering.
If the sewing tension or gathering ratio changes during production, the appearance can vary from one garment to another. This is why the construction needs to be established clearly on the approved sample.
The Graded Sizes Do Not Keep the Same Look
A size S sample may fit well while the larger or smaller sizes lose the intended neckline proportion.
Off shoulder grading needs more attention around the neckline, bust and sleeve opening because changing one measurement can affect the balance of another.
Satin Looks Different After Production
Satin can show details that other fabrics hide.
A seam that looks acceptable on a matte fabric may be obvious on satin. Pressing marks and needle damage can also affect the appearance.
For this type of order, the fabric should be treated as part of the construction process, not simply as a material to be cut and sewn.
Quality Control for Off Shoulder Dresses
For off shoulder dresses, QC includes the construction points that affect fit as well as normal workmanship checks.
We pay particular attention to the neckline, sleeve attachment, measurements, lining and finished appearance.
Fabric Inspection
Fabric is checked before cutting for visible defects, shade differences and other issues that may affect the finished garment.
Cutting Check
Pattern pieces are checked against the approved specifications and fabric direction before production continues.
In-Line Sewing Inspection
QC checks key construction points during sewing, including neckline elastic, sleeve attachment, gathering and seam construction.
Fit & Measurement Check
Measurements are taken at the neckline, bust, sleeve opening and garment length against the approved size chart.
Final Inspection
Finished garments are checked against the approved sample for workmanship, appearance, measurements, labels, packing and quantity before shipment.
The approved sample remains the main reference throughout bulk production.
Key Construction Points for Off Shoulder Dresses
An off shoulder dress can look correct on a mannequin and still have problems when someone actually wears it.
The neckline should stay close to the intended position without riding up during normal movement.
We look at the neckline width, elastic recovery, seam construction and fabric together. Making the elastic tighter is not always the right solution; too much tension can make the dress uncomfortable and change the shape.
For fitted or evening styles, the neckline and bust area need to work together.
Lining, internal elastic or shaping panels can be added when the neckline needs more support. The right solution depends on the fabric, silhouette and amount of support your collection requires.
Sleeves connected to an off shoulder neckline need enough room for arm movement without pulling the neckline out of position.
During sample fitting, we check the sleeve opening and attachment points together with the neckline rather than treating each measurement separately.
If you choose a stretch fabric, recovery becomes an important part of the fit.
A fabric can feel comfortable during the first fitting but behave differently after repeated movement. For fitted off shoulder styles, we pay attention to stretch, recovery and lining compatibility before confirming the production fabric.

Inside Our Manufacturing Workshop

 Fabric Warehouse
Fabric rolls are labeled and recorded when they arrive. Batch information is kept with the material records so the correct fabric can be matched to each order.
↓

Fabric Inspection
Satin, silk and other smooth fabrics need extra checking because even small marks can remain visible on the finished garment.
↓

Fabric Pre-shrinking
After fabric inspection, selected fabrics go through a pre-shrinking process before cutting. This helps control shrinkage and keeps finished measurements more consistent across the order.
↓

Automatic Cutting
The cutting system keeps pattern pieces consistent across the order and helps control fabric usage, especially when a style has many panels or several sizes.
↓

Bulk Production Sewing
Sewing operators work from the approved sample and production specifications, with construction checked as the order moves through the line.
↓

In-line Inspection
QC checks the garment as it moves through production, including stitching, measurements and construction. Problems found on the line can then be corrected before the finished garments reach final inspection.
↓

In-line Pressing
Pressing is adjusted according to the fabric and garment construction, especially around seams, hems and shaped areas.
↓

Final Pressing
Before packing, finished garments are pressed to smooth seams and shape key areas before final checking.
↓

Final Inspection
Before shipment, finished garments are checked for measurements, stitching, labels, packing and quantity by style, color and size.
↓

Garment Packing
Finished garments are folded and packed according to each order’s requirements. Labels, tags, barcodes and packaging details are checked before cartons are sealed.

Finished Products
Finished garments are arranged by style, color and size before shipment.

As a custom clothing manufacturer, we handle the main production steps in-house, from pattern making and sampling through cutting, sewing, finishing, and final inspection. Our team works from your tech pack, sample, sketch, or reference and checks the details before the style moves into bulk production.
Keeping these stages with one production team makes it easier to deal with pattern changes, sample revisions, and construction issues before cutting starts. We can also arrange screen printing and custom embroidery when these details are part of the design.

Xiuyu Apparel provides custom clothing manufacturing as a dress manufacturer for fashion brands, boutiques, retailers, wholesalers and private label companies.
Yes. A product photo is enough to start a development discussion, although a tech pack or reference sample gives us more information. We normally use the image to understand the silhouette and details, then confirm measurements, fabric, construction and finishing requirements before preparing the sample.
Our usual MOQ starts from 50–100 pieces per style and color. The practical quantity can change depending on the fabric, construction and customization involved. If you are testing a new style, we can review the design first and suggest a sensible starting quantity rather than pushing you into a larger order.
It depends on the style and target price. Satin, silk, chiffon, lace, jersey, cotton and polyester blends can all work. The important point is how the fabric behaves with the neckline. Weight, stretch, recovery and drape can affect stability, fit and sleeve shape, so we normally check the actual fabric during sampling.
A standard sample normally takes around 3–7 days once the design details and required materials are confirmed. More complicated styles may take longer if they involve special fabrics, embellishment, unusual construction or several rounds of fitting changes.
Yes. You can use your own woven labels, care labels, size labels, hangtags, barcode labels and packaging. We can follow your existing branding specifications or help coordinate the required details before bulk production.
Yes. We work with startups and smaller fashion brands that need to test new products before scaling. Our usual starting quantity is around 50–100 pieces per style/color, although the final MOQ depends on the design, fabric and production requirements.
Yes. Custom colors can be discussed based on the fabric you choose. Stock fabrics may offer more flexible quantities, while custom dyeing can require higher fabric quantities. Before production, we can check the color requirement and material availability so you know the practical options.
