Our Casual Dress Manufacturing Capabilities
Since 2007, Xiuyu Apparel has been developing and producing custom dresses for fashion brands, private label companies, retailers and emerging designers.
Our factory setup includes:
- 750+ skilled workers
- 500+ sewing machines
- 5 automatic cutting lines
- In-house pattern making, sample development and QC teams
- Experience exporting dresses to 40+ countries
Casual dresses can be sensitive to fabric weight, garment length and ease. During pattern development and sampling, these points are reviewed together with fabric behavior and key measurements before the style moves to bulk production.
Custom Casual Dress Manufacturing for Your Brand
If you already have the main silhouette in mind, we can work from whatever production information is available at the start. This may be a tech pack, sketch, reference garment, fabric swatch or even a product photo.
A cotton shirt dress, a viscose maxi and a fitted jersey style require different considerations in pattern making and sewing. These points are reviewed before sampling so the pattern and construction match the selected fabric.
Casual Dress Customization Options
- Mini, knee-length, midi and maxi lengths
- Fitted, relaxed and oversized silhouettes
- A-line, shift, shirt, slip, wrap and tiered styles
- Short, mid-length and long sleeves
- Round, V-neck, square and boat necklines
For private label orders, branding details are handled alongside the garment itself. We can add woven labels, care labels, hangtags, barcodes and packaging requirements as part of the production order.
If the nominated fabric differs in weight, stretch or shrinkage from the reference sample, the pattern may need adjustment before approval.
Fabric Selection for Casual Dresses
The same silhouette can require different pattern or sewing adjustments in cotton poplin, viscose and linen blends because fabric weight, drape and shrinkage are not the same.
You can work with your own nominated fabric or ask us to source suitable options based on the requirements of your collection.
Common casual dress fabrics include:
- Cotton
- Linen
- Linen blends
- Viscose
- Rayon
- Polyester
- Jersey
- Chiffon
- Denim
- Satin
- Blended fabrics
Before bulk cutting, fabric is inspected for width, visible defects, shade consistency and shrinkage. These checks are especially important when the approved sample was made from a different lot or when the fabric has been pre-washed or pre-shrunk.
For fabrics with noticeable shrinkage or unstable behavior, the production team needs the fabric condition confirmed before the bulk pattern and cutting quantities are finalized.
Factory Certifications
Our production and sourcing processes can support requirements related to BSCI, GOTS, ISO 9001 and OEKO-TEX, where applicable. Required certificates or test documents can be provided based on the product, fabric and buyer requirements.

OEM & Private Label Casual Dress Services
Fit, fabric behavior and everyday wearability all need to be considered before bulk production.
- Low MOQ: Casual dress styles can usually start from around 50–100 pieces per style/color. Fabric, color, construction and other production requirements can affect the final MOQ.
- Sample Development: The first sample can be developed from a tech pack, sketch, reference garment or product photo. The pattern team checks the main measurements, proportions and construction before the sample is sent for fitting.
- Fabric Sourcing: Buyers can nominate their own fabric, or fabric options can be sourced by weight, drape, stretch, season and target price.
- Private Label: Woven labels, care labels, hangtags, barcodes and custom packaging can be added to the production order.
- Production QC: Fabric is checked before cutting, measurements are checked during sewing, and finished garments go through a final inspection before packing.

Custom Casual Dress Development Based on Your Design
When reviewing a new casual dress, we focus on the parts that can affect the sample most:
- Silhouette and garment length
- Waist position and ease
- Neckline and armhole
- Sleeve construction
- Fabric weight, stretch and drape
- Closures and pocket details
The first sample is used to check how these details work together. If the fabric or fit changes the intended shape, the pattern can be revised before the PP sample is approved.
OEM & Private Label Casual Dress Production
If you already have your own design, you can develop the casual dress around your specifications.
You can provide:
- Tech pack
- Sketch
- Reference photo
- Existing garment
- Physical sample
- Measurement chart
- Fabric swatch
- Print artwork
For private label production, you can also add your own branding and packaging requirements.

Casual Dress Manufacturing Process
A casual dress still passes through several production stages before bulk sewing, from specification review and pattern development to sampling and PP approval.
1. Design & Specification Review
You can send your tech pack, sketch, reference garment or available measurements.
We first check the information that affects production, including fabric, construction, measurements and special details.
If something is unclear, it is better to resolve it before the first sample rather than after bulk fabric has been cut.
2. Pattern Development
Our pattern department develops the working pattern from the approved design information.
The pattern maker checks measurements, panel connections, seam construction and garment balance.
For a new silhouette, the first pattern is normally used for development and fitting. It is not treated as the final bulk pattern until the sample has been reviewed.
3. Sample Development
Our sample room includes 15 pattern makers and 35 sample sewers.
The first sample gives you a physical garment to check for fit, proportion, fabric behavior and construction.
You can then provide specific revision comments before the next sample is prepared.
4. Fit Revision
You may need changes to:
- Bust
- Waist
- Hip
- Shoulder
- Sleeve
- Neckline
- Finished length
- Skirt volume
Clear measurements and marked photos are useful here. Comments such as “make it smaller” are difficult to apply consistently, while a specific measurement change gives the pattern team a clear target.
5. PP Sample Approval
Before bulk production, the approved PP sample and specifications become the production reference.
Fabric, color, measurements, construction and finishing details should be confirmed at this stage.
This becomes particularly important when the same style is produced in several colors or when several styles share a similar pattern.
6. Bulk Cutting & Sewing
Once the PP sample is approved and fabric is confirmed, the order moves into bulk cutting and sewing.
Our production setup includes 5 automatic cutting lines and 500+ sewing machines.
7. In-Line QC
Measurements, sewing quality, construction and visible defects are checked during the production run.
8. Final Inspection & Packing
Finished garments are pressed, inspected and packed according to the confirmed order requirements.
Labels, hangtags, folding, polybags and cartons are checked as part of the final preparation.

Quality Control for Casual Dresses
Casual dresses can still have production issues with shrinkage, shade variation, finished length and skirt balance.
Fabric Shrinkage
Cotton, linen and some viscose fabrics can change after washing or processing.
Fabric shrinkage needs to be accounted for before bulk cutting, otherwise finished length and body measurements may differ from the approved sample.
Color Difference
Solid-dyed and printed fabrics need consistent shade control.
When an order uses several fabric lots, color should be checked before production rather than discovered after the garments have been sewn.
Finished Length
Length is particularly important for mini, midi and maxi dresses.
Finished measurements are compared with the approved specifications during production.
Skirt Balance
Gathered, tiered and flared skirts need to hang correctly from the waist or bodice.
Fabric weight, gathering ratio and seam placement can all change the finished appearance.
Sewing & Finishing
We check seams, hems, loose threads, closures, pressing and other visible finishing points before packing.
What You Can Develop With a Casual Dress Manufacturer
Your collection may include relaxed everyday dresses, summer styles, resort pieces or more structured casual silhouettes. The production method changes with the fabric, construction and fit you choose.
Common casual dress programs include cotton and linen styles, printed and floral dresses, maxi, midi and mini lengths, as well as shirt, T-shirt, halter, skater, puff sleeve and tiered constructions.
A collection can share the same brand direction while using different fabrics, silhouettes and construction details across individual styles.
Common Casual Dress Production Problems We Solve
Fabric Shrinkage After Washing
Cotton, linen and viscose fabrics can shrink differently after washing or finishing, which may affect the final dress length and overall fit.
Before bulk cutting, we check fabric shrinkage and account for the confirmed measurements when developing the pattern.
Inconsistent Finished Length
Small differences in finished length can become noticeable across a casual dress collection, especially when the same style is produced in several sizes or colors.
Key length measurements are compared with the approved sample and production specifications during the run.
Uneven Skirt Shape or Drape
The same casual dress pattern can look different when made in fabrics with different weight, stretch or drape.
During sampling, we check the skirt balance, fabric behavior and seam construction together to make sure the finished shape matches the intended design.
Color Difference Between Fabric Lots
Casual dresses are often produced in several colors, so fabric shade differences can become a problem when materials come from different dye lots.
Fabric is checked before cutting, and the approved fabric shade is used as the reference for bulk production to reduce noticeable color variation.
Difference Between Sample and Bulk Production
Bulk production needs to follow the approved sample and production specifications closely.
The approved pattern, measurements, fabric details and construction notes stay with the production order so the sewing team is working from the same approved information.

As a custom clothing manufacturer, we handle the main production steps in-house, from pattern making and sampling through cutting, sewing, finishing, and final inspection. Our team works from your tech pack, sample, sketch, or reference and checks the details before the style moves into bulk production.
Keeping these stages with one production team makes it easier to deal with pattern changes, sample revisions, and construction issues before cutting starts. We can also arrange screen printing and custom embroidery when these details are part of the design.

Ready to Develop Your Casual Dress Collection?
Send us your tech pack, sketch, reference sample, fabric swatch, or an early-stage product idea.
If the design is not fully specified yet, that is fine. We can first check the available information and let you know what needs to be confirmed before sampling.
Once the details are clear, the project can move through pattern development, sample making, PP approval and bulk production.
Send Your Design → Review → Pattern Development → Sample → PP Approval → Bulk Production
You can develop mini, midi, maxi, shirt, wrap, smocked, tiered, A-line, relaxed and other casual dress styles with us. The garment can be based on your own tech pack, sketch, reference sample or measurements rather than being limited to an existing factory style.
Yes. You can send a tech pack, sketch, measurement chart, reference photo or physical sample. Our pattern department reviews the information and develops the first pattern. If the sample needs changes, you can send marked photos or specific measurement corrections for revision.
We can work with cotton, linen, viscose, jersey, poplin, denim, chiffon and other suitable dress fabrics. The right choice depends on the silhouette and construction. Before production, we look at fabric weight, width, stretch, drape and shrinkage rather than choosing fabric by appearance alone.
Our usual MOQ is 50–100 pieces per style/color. The workable quantity can change with fabric, color, construction and customization requirements. If you are developing a collection, it is useful to review the styles and quantities together before production instead of setting the same quantity for every design.
Sample development is usually 3–7 days when the required fabric and trims are available. More complicated construction or unavailable materials can affect the timing. If the first sample needs a fit revision, the additional development stage should also be included in the project schedule.
Yes. You can provide your own woven labels, size and care labels, hangtags, barcodes and packaging specifications. These details are confirmed together with the garment requirements before bulk production so the production team knows how the finished garments should be labeled, folded and packed.
Quality checks are carried out during production rather than only after the garments are completed. Fabric, measurements, sewing and construction are checked against the approved requirements, while finished garments are inspected for visible defects, pressing and packing details before shipment.
