Our Chiffon Midi Dress Manufacturing Capability
Xiuyu Apparel has been making dresses since 2007. As an experienced clothing manufacturer, we handle fabric preparation, cutting, sewing, finishing, inspection and packing for custom apparel orders.
We work with fashion brands, startups, designers, retailers, wholesalers, boutiques and private label companies, from smaller first orders to repeat production.
Our current production setup includes:
- 18+ years of apparel manufacturing experience
- 150,000+ pieces/month production capacity
- 750+ skilled garment workers
- 500+ sewing machines
- 5 automatic cutting lines
- Fabric sourcing
- Multi-stage quality control
You can start with a tech pack, sketch, reference sample or even a product idea. Our team first looks at the construction, fabric and measurements to see what needs to be confirmed before a sample is made.
Custom Chiffon Midi Dress Manufacturing
A chiffon midi dress can look simple on a product image, but the production details become more noticeable once the garment is made.
Finished length, fabric drape, lining, waist position, skirt fullness and hem all affect how the dress sits on the body. With lightweight chiffon, even a small change in construction can change the way the finished garment hangs.
If you already have a finished design, send us the specifications and we can develop the sample around them. A sketch, reference image or existing garment is also enough to start the discussion. We review the construction first and confirm the details that need to be settled before sampling.
We manufacture chiffon midi dresses for fashion brands, startups, designers, boutique owners, retailers, wholesalers and private label companies. If you are comparing chiffon dress manufacturer options for a wider collection, our team can also develop other chiffon dress styles from the same production base.

What Affects the Cost of a Chiffon Midi Dress?
The price of a chiffon midi dress depends on more than the style itself. Fabric, sewing operations, lining, quantity and finishing details all have an effect on the final quotation.
When we work out a price, we normally look at the full specification rather than estimating from a product photo alone.
Chiffon Fabric
Chiffon can vary quite a lot in price. Composition, fabric weight, width, transparency and finish all make a difference, as does the quantity required from the fabric supplier.
A standard polyester chiffon and a higher-grade silk chiffon will naturally give you a different material cost.
Dress Construction
A simple sleeveless midi dress takes fewer sewing operations than a style with tiers, pleats, ruching, sleeves or a more complicated neckline.
Once extra construction is added, the sewing time increases as well. This is one reason two dresses with a similar appearance can still have quite different factory prices.
Lining
Full lining, partial lining and different lining fabrics will affect material usage and workmanship.
For transparent chiffon, lining is also part of the finished appearance, so we recommend confirming it during sampling.
Print or Special Fabric
Printed chiffon can involve additional fabric development or sourcing requirements.
If the design requires a particular print repeat, placement or custom color, these requirements should be confirmed before the quotation is finalized.
Order Quantity
Order quantity also affects the unit price. Pattern development, setup and production preparation take roughly the same amount of work whether the first order is small or large.
For a startup testing a new style, a smaller first order can make sense. Once the style starts selling, repeat production can be planned at a different quantity and price level.
Custom Branding and Packaging
Labels, hangtags, barcodes, special folding and custom packaging can also affect the final cost.
You can send these requirements together with your product specifications so they can be included in the quotation.
Popular Chiffon Midi Dress Styles We Manufacture
You can develop the same chiffon base into very different commercial styles by changing the silhouette, neckline, sleeve, skirt construction, or finishing.

Floral chiffon works well for spring, resort, occasion and boutique collections. Large prints need careful cutting so key motifs do not land awkwardly across the bodice, waist or center front. We check the artwork and placement before bulk cutting.

Ruffles add movement, but they also use more fabric. The gathering ratio, ruffle width and attachment point need to be settled early. If the ruffles become fuller after sampling, both fabric usage and sewing time will increase.

Pleated chiffon can change length and shape once the fabric is sewn. Fine or wide pleats, full skirts and partial panels are all possible. We check the waist join, pleat direction and finished length on the actual sample.

Long Sleeve Chiffon Midi Dress
Soft chiffon behaves differently in sleeves than on the body. Fitted, gathered, bishop or balloon sleeves all need the right cuff and armhole balance. The sample shows whether the sleeve hangs correctly before the construction is fixed for production.

With sleeveless chiffon styles, the armhole should look clean without adding unnecessary weight. Facing, binding or another edge finish can be used depending on the fabric. We check the armhole with the shoulder and bust rather than separately.

A wrap dress needs enough overlap to stay in place when walking or sitting. Front overlap, tie position, inner fastening and neckline depth are checked on the sample. Lightweight chiffon can move more than expected, so the finished garment matters here.

A-line chiffon dresses depend heavily on the relationship between the waist and skirt. Changing the waist position or hem width can alter the whole proportion. We judge the skirt fullness and finished length on the garment, not only from the pattern.

Fit and Flare Chiffon Midi Dress
Fit-and-flare styles need a smooth transition from the fitted bodice into the fuller skirt. During sample fitting, we look at the bust, waist seam, skirt volume and length together. A small change at the waist can affect the whole silhouette.
More Chiffon Midi Dress Styles We Manufacture

One Shoulder Chiffon Midi Dress
One-shoulder chiffon styles carry the garment unevenly, so neckline stability becomes important. We pay attention to shoulder support, lining attachment and the asymmetric seam. The sample shows whether the neckline stays in position during normal movement.

Halter Chiffon Midi Dress
Halter chiffon dresses need enough support at the neckline without making the fabric feel heavy. Neckline depth, halter width and back closure are checked together during fitting. With sheer chiffon, lining coverage is also confirmed before the sample is approved.

Ruched Chiffon Midi Dress
Ruching changes the shape through controlled gathering around the waist, bust, side seam or skirt. The ratio needs to suit the chiffon weight. We also check the lining underneath, since too much gathering can add bulk and affect the finished fit.

Slip Chiffon Midi Dress
A chiffon slip midi dress usually depends on a clean shape and soft fall. Strap width, neckline, back opening and side slit can be adjusted to your design. For bias-cut styles, we allow extra fabric and check the hem after the garment settles.

Printed Chiffon Midi Dress
Printed chiffon can be developed from your artwork or a selected fabric print. Before sampling, we confirm the print scale, color, repeat and placement. Fabric width and print direction also need to be considered when preparing the cutting layout.

Layered Chiffon Midi Dress
Layered chiffon creates movement without adding much weight, but too many layers can change the skirt completely. Layer length, transparency and lining need to work together. We check the finished layers for fullness and how they fall while moving.
Chiffon Midi Dress MOQ, Sampling & Production
For new styles, we normally confirm the quantity, fabric availability and sample requirements before scheduling bulk production.
Our typical production terms are:
- MOQ: from 50–100 pcs per style/color
- Sample development: around 3–7 days
- Bulk production: around 25–30 days after approval and production preparation
- OEM / ODM / private label: available
The actual schedule depends on the fabric, construction, quantity and how quickly the sample is approved.

Common Production Issues With Chiffon Midi Dresses
Before bulk production, we pay attention to issues that commonly affect lightweight chiffon garments:
- Uneven hem after hanging
- Excessive transparency
- Lining showing through
- Inconsistent gathering
- Uneven pleats
- Sleeve imbalance
- Print placement differences
- Fabric snagging
- Seam puckering
- Incorrect finished length
- Different shrinkage between shell and lining
Most of these problems are much cheaper to fix at sample stage than after bulk sewing has started.
For your order, the approved sample, confirmed measurements, fabric specification, and construction details become the production reference.
How We Manufacture Chiffon Midi Dresses
1. Design Review Before Sampling
A tech pack, sketch, reference image or existing sample is enough for the initial review.
Before the pattern is made, our team goes through the main construction details with the customer. For chiffon midi dresses, length, waist position, skirt volume, lining and fabric behavior are usually the first points we confirm.
2. Chiffon Fabric and Trim Sourcing
If you already have a specified fabric, we can work according to your requirements.
If you are still choosing the material, we can discuss suitable chiffon options based on:
- Fabric composition
- Weight
- Transparency
- Hand feel
- Drape
- Stretch
- Color
- Target price
For printed chiffon, we also need to consider the print repeat, fabric width and cutting direction.
3. Pattern Development
Once the main specifications are confirmed, our pattern team develops the pattern for sampling.
The pattern needs to account for how the chiffon will fall after sewing. A midi skirt can look correct on the flat pattern and still hang differently once it is sewn. This is particularly noticeable with soft chiffon and fuller skirts.
For this reason, the sample is an important part of the development process.
4. Sample Making
We normally develop the first sample within around 3–7 days, depending on fabric availability and construction.
The first sample is mainly used to confirm the fit, proportions, fabric behavior and finishing details. If the length, waist, neckline or lining needs adjustment, we revise the pattern before bulk production.
5. Sample Fitting and Approval
Once you receive the sample, you can provide your comments and measurements.
If you need changes to the waist, hem, neckline, sleeve, lining or overall fit, we update the production information accordingly.
The approved sample becomes the reference for bulk production.
6. Fabric Inspection and Cutting
Before cutting, fabric is checked for visible defects, shade consistency, width and general condition.
Very lightweight chiffon can shift during spreading, so the cutting team handles the fabric carefully to keep the panels close to the approved pattern.
For printed chiffon, the marker also needs to account for the print direction and placement.
7. Bulk Sewing
After the pre-production details are approved, the style moves into bulk sewing.
The sewing team works from the approved sample and production specifications. Stitching, gathering, lining attachment, zipper installation and hem construction are checked as the order moves through the line.
8. In-Line Quality Inspection
QC checks measurements, stitching, construction and appearance at different production stages. Depending on the style, the team may also check the neckline, sleeve, lining and hem.
Problems found on the line are sent back for correction before the garments reach final inspection.
9. Final Inspection and Pressing
Before packing, finished garments are checked against the approved specifications.
We check measurements, stitching, appearance, labels and packing requirements.
The garment is also pressed and finished so that the chiffon is not left with unnecessary wrinkles or handling marks.
10. Packing and Shipment Preparation
Your private label requirements can be included in the production order.
You can provide your own:
- Woven labels
- Size labels
- Care labels
- Hangtags
- Barcodes
- Polybags
- Folding instructions
- Carton markings
The packing details are confirmed before the order is prepared for shipment.

Key Production Checks for Chiffon Midi Dresses
Midi Length and Hem
Midi length is best confirmed on the finished garment. Soft chiffon can drop slightly after sewing and pressing, especially in fuller or bias-cut skirts.
We compare the finished sample with the approved measurements before bulk production and use the approved sample as the reference for final length and hem level.
Transparency and Lining
Chiffon can look different under studio lighting and natural light. Lining coverage therefore needs to be decided during development.
Depending on the design, you may want a fully lined dress, a lined bodice with a more transparent skirt, or a shorter lining that leaves part of the chiffon visible.
The lining should move with the shell without pulling the outer fabric upward.
Skirt Fullness
Gathering and skirt fullness affect both the appearance and fabric consumption of the dress.
The gathering ratio is confirmed during pattern development. If the skirt is made fuller later, the fabric requirement and sewing time will change as well.
Sleeve Balance
For long-sleeve and gathered-sleeve styles, sleeve width, cuff opening and armhole shape need to work with the body of the dress.
The finished sample gives us a better indication of sleeve balance than the pattern alone.
Hem Finishing
Chiffon shows uneven or bulky hems quite easily.
Depending on the fabric, a rolled hem, narrow hem or baby hem may be suitable. We confirm the finishing method on the actual fabric before bulk sewing.
Seams and Lightweight Fabric
Fine chiffon can show puckering, uneven stitching and rough edge finishing more clearly than heavier fabrics.
During sample development, we establish the stitch tension, seam construction and edge finish that will be used for bulk production.

Start Your Chiffon Midi Dress Project
Have a tech pack? Send it over and we can review the construction and production requirements.
If the design is still at sketch or reference-image stage, that is fine too. We can look at the fabric, measurements, lining, construction and quantity first and let you know what needs to be confirmed for sampling.

Yes. You can send your tech pack with measurements, construction details, fabric requirements, and reference images. We review the information before sampling and will flag details that may need clarification, especially around lining, hem finishing, garment length, and lightweight chiffon construction.
We can work with polyester chiffon, silk chiffon, printed chiffon, and other suitable chiffon qualities depending on your design and target cost. If you do not have a confirmed fabric, we can help source options and compare weight, transparency, hand feel, drape, and availability before sampling.
Our MOQ can start from around 50–100 pieces per style, depending on the fabric, color, construction, and order requirements. If you are a startup or boutique testing a new design, send us the style details and quantity you have in mind so we can check the project.
Yes. Sampling is normally completed before bulk production so you can check the actual fabric, fit, measurements, lining, construction, and finishing. Samples generally take around 3–7 days, although the timing can change if special fabric or custom development is required.
Yes. You can provide your own artwork or print reference. We can review the required fabric base, print scale, color requirements, and placement before sampling. If the print has large motifs, we also recommend checking the cutting layout so important areas are positioned correctly.
Bulk production is generally around 25–30 days after the sample has been approved. The actual schedule depends on fabric preparation, order quantity, construction, finishing, and customization. We confirm the production schedule after reviewing your order rather than using one fixed timeline for every style.
Yes. You can provide your label artwork, care label information, hangtags, packaging specifications, and folding requirements. We can coordinate these items with the garment production so your finished chiffon midi dresses are prepared for your own brand and distribution requirements.
You can choose full, partial or custom lining depending on the design. During sampling, we check how the lining sits underneath the chiffon and whether it pulls the outer fabric. This is especially important around the skirt and hem, where an incorrect lining length can change the garment’s appearance.
